Privacy Policy

Short version

SteamTools.games is a free, no-account generator. We do not ask for your email or require a login. Third-party ads may appear to help cover hosting. Server logs are kept for 14 days and then deleted. Details below.

What the generator does

When you type a game name or an App ID, the request goes to our server, which in turn calls Steam's public store and appdetails APIs. The only data we process for the tool is:

• The search string you typed.
• The App ID you confirmed in the dropdown.
• A short-lived in-memory entry of the result so the rate limiter can do its job.

We do not write your search history to disk, and we do not sell it. Steam receives the lookup request (necessary to perform the search).

Advertising

To keep the generator free, we display ads served by a third-party ad network. The network and its partners may:

• Load scripts and show ads on our pages (including pop-unders and native banners).
• Request permission to send browser push notifications.
• Set or read cookies / local storage related to ad serving, frequency capping, and fraud prevention.
• Collect standard ad-related signals (for example IP address, user agent, and page URL) under the network's policies.

This is separate from the generator API: downloads never go through ad link-shorteners. We do not inject ads into the ZIP / Lua / key file responses.

You can manage ad personalization via your browser's ad / tracking controls.

Cookies and local storage

First-party storage we control:

• steamtools.recent.v1 — a small list of the App IDs you have generated recently, so the "Recent" strip on the home page can show them. You can clear it from your browser's site data settings.
• Session cookies used by authentication / CSRF when you use sign-in or admin features. They are HttpOnly / SameSite as configured by better-auth and contain no ad targeting profile of our own.

Third-party storage may be set by our ad network (and any optional first-party analytics you enable via admin config). Clear site data or use your browser's ad / tracking controls to limit this.

Server logs

Our edge node records standard request logs (IP address, user agent, path, response code) for abuse detection. Logs are rotated every 14 days and then permanently deleted. We do not sell server logs.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Because our ad network may process device signals on page load, do not use the site if you are under the age required by applicable law.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything material, we will bump the date at the top of this page and post a short note on the blog when practical. The change will not be retroactive.
